BR-10 The Trumpet-Major

The year was 1804. The place was Wessex, in the south of England. Britain was at war with France. For ten years, the two countries had been fighting. There had been no battles in Britain. But the armies of the two countries were fighting in other parts of Europe. And the navies of the two countries were fighting on the sea.(p.7)

John plays the trumpet. He meets a beautiful woman whose name is Anne. He loves her, however she loves his brother. Their thoughs cross. I felt it was painful.
